Everyone knows that you need protein in the morning in order to get your body in motion and give your metabolism a kick in the a**. Every night before I go to sleep, I make my girlfriend her protein pancake that she created. It's delicious and packed with your morning must-haves to start your day out on the right foot.
What you'll need:
- egg whites
- oats
- 1 banana
- cinnamon
- Splenda
First, heat your pan on a low temperature. (On my stove, about a 3)
Next, take 1/4 cup oats, 1 cup egg whites, 1 banana, 2 packets of Splenda and however much cinnamon your heart desires and put it into a blender. Blend until everything is mixed.
Next, spray your pan with Pam and pour pancake mixture.
Cook the pancake for 10 minutes on each side, or until pancake is fully cooked.
Be careful to watch your clock during the cooking process!I have burnt aplenty!
Lastly, your ready to store your pancake for the morning. I recommend taking a sheet of aluminum foil and two paper towels to wrap your pancake in until morning. Refrigerate.
Now your ready to start your day! Be sure to microwave your pancake before eating. Enjoy!
The Miserable and Misunderstood "Muffin Top"
Muffin top... the dreaded description that every girl wants to avoid. That bulge that hangs over your jeans like a muffin over its wrapping. The unbearable sight of too small of jeans and not so small waist line, the muffin top lingers on the horizon awaiting its next victim.
Muscle and Fitness Hers created a questionnaire that could help in the battle of the bulge:
1. Do you have good posture?
2. Are you training your abs from the inside out?
3. Are you getting plenty of sleep and avoiding stress?
4. Do you eat breakfast?
If you answered NO to any of these questions and you have a muffin top, there are some ways to fix your flabby frustration.
First, look at your posture profile in a mirror to see if you have an exaggerated arch in your back that makes your stomach stick out. A great way to help in aiding perfect posture is stretching.
Second, stop the ordinary crunches and re-evaluate the way you're working your abs. When you perform regular crunches, you are just creating a thickness around your abs making your stomach protrude outwards.
Next, when you're stressed out, not getting the proper rest and guzzling down coffee, chances are you have high levels of Cortisol. Research has shown that high levels of Cortisol leaves fat around your midsection.
Last, DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST! Even if you're not hungry in the early hours, eat a high protein meal because this will boost your metabolism and get your body moving, even when your mind is still fast asleep.

Heavy
So, there's this show called Heavy on A&E. It's an inspirational series about people who are looking to transform after finally realizing how bad they have let themselves go.
One thing I really like about this weight loss show compared to most is the fact that they are getting healthy for themselves, not for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Those "reality" shows that are about winning money or prizes may work temporarily, but then when the contestant gets home in the real world, they don't have that "prize" motivation to keep the dedication of losing weight.
On Heavy, it follows two individuals, each episode, who are desperately seeking to get in shape and endure a six month journey on the road to health. For the first month, they stay at a health retreat and work-out with trainers everyday. Before they are released back into the wild, they are shown how to shop and cook healthy meals. They have a couple big weigh-ins but not every week. In the last month, the two individuals are not allowed to step foot on a scale until the end of their long, grueling endeavor.
At the end, the outcome is always success due to the life lessons that are learned. Instead of a material prize, these transformed people win a second chance at life and that's more important than some lame prize. This show is really a life-changing series and I would encourage everyone to watch it.

Fad Diets
From fat-flushes to detoxes, diets range from strange to bizarre!
First, there's the Vinegar Diet. It's believed that consuming vinegar before a meal will help satisfy hunger cravings so that the individual will not consume as many calories.
Next, there's the Beverly Hills diet where you eat less then 800 calories a day and all you eat is prunes, berries, and potatoes. So, let's see, the protein is almost non-existing and you are barely eating... I think this is what they call anorexia!
Last, but only for this post's sake, is the Lemonade Diet where basically you don't eat for a couple weeks. All you have is specially made lemonade, saline washes (sea salt) and laxative tea. Well, no wonder you lose weight and possibly gain a trip to the hospital.
There are many fad diets out there that all claim to help lose weight. In all truths, the only way to lose weight the HEALTHY way is a change of lifestyle and exercise.
