While some people believe that getting healthy requires spending hours a day in the gym and taking away precious family time, this isn't the case. There are ways to get in shape while also increasing time spent with the family.

Although I may not have kids of my own, I believe that women have no excuse for not losing that extra baby weight. The alternatives to being stuck in the juice-head, roided-out, germ infested gym with those way-too-skinny, it's intimidating girls, are to get outdoors and be creative.

Instead of doing the same old, boring, rotating belt we call a treadmill, try going for a walk with your significant other, the kids or even your dog. Getting outdoors will not only make getting healthy fun, but the fresh air and change of scene will increase your willingness to want to work out.

The next time your kid wants to go play at the jungle gym, go! You can use this twisted metal as a great work out area. You can accomplish pull-ups, sit-ups, push-ups and more! Get creative all while still keeping your eye on the kids while they play. Don't be one of those moms who sit on the bench munching on the kids' snacks! Get involved!

Think of fun innovative ways to manipulate your surroundings to your advantage. Not all your time has to spent lifting weights in a crowded gym. Take your environment and shape it into your own gym, membership: one. Remember, getting healthy starts at home. Have fun!
